Аннотация: На основании впервые вводимого в научный оборот документального материала (документы из фондов Научного архива РАО, архивной коллекции ФГБНУ «Институт коррекционной педагогики»), предлагается реконструкция деятельности выдающегося тифлопедагога и ученого Бориса Игнатьевича Коваленко в годы его работы в НИИ дефектологии АПН РСФСР. Описаны основные направления и результаты его трудов с 1944 по 1946 год в области работы с военноослепшими, трудового обучения слепых детей, общих вопросов организации их образования, воспитания и обучения слабовидящих. В приложении впервые публикуется автобиография Б. И. Коваленко и ряд архивных документов, связанных с его работой в НИИ дефектологии АПН РСФСР.

Abstract: On the basis of the documentary material (documents from the funds of the Scientific Archive of the Russian Academy of Education, archival collection of the Institute of Correctional Pedagogy), which is being introduced into scientific circulation for the first time, the reconstruction of the activities of the outstanding typhlopedagogue and scientist Boris Ignatyevich Kovalenko during his work in the Research Institute of Defectology of the Russian pedagogical Academy is offered. The main directions and results of his works from 1944 to 1946 in the field of work with the military blind, labor training of blind children, general issues of organization of their education, upbringing and education of the visually impaired are described. The appendix contains for the first time the autobiography of B.I. Kovalenko and a number of archival documents related to his work in the Research Institute in Defectology of the Russian pedagogical Academy.
